From Media Entrepreneur to Media Studies Teacher: My Journey

After more than 30 years shaping the media landscape across West Africa and the UK — from designing graphics as a teenager to founding Ohenemedia/OM Studios, directing music videos and helping to launch TV stations — I realised that my greatest passion lies not only in creating content but in empowering others.

In 2024 I returned to the classroom as a trainee, studying for a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with Qualified Teacher Status at Goldsmiths, University of London. During my placements at Northfleet Technology College and Saint George’s Church of England School I explored how media education can inspire young people. Combining industry experience with modern pedagogy has deepened my belief that media studies should nurture creativity, critical thinking and digital literacy.

As a teacher I am committed to building inclusive, culturally relevant lessons that encourage students to question the world around them and to express themselves confidently. Whether through analysing music videos or producing podcasts, I want learners to see the connection between media and their own lives.
